The B's started out as good neighbors and went downhill from there. In 1976 during the flood, Doria we were on good terms. But then things changed.

Interestingly it had to do with a fence. When I took out the old stockade fence and installed a new one B wanted me to put the good side out facing his property. I put it in facing our property, the way fences are supposed to be installed.

He got bent out of shape and he started to deliberately dump junk in his side lawn. Car parts, axles, transmissions fenders etc. This was before the pool. I reported him and he was fined. But it was downhill from there.

It was interesting that when he installed his pool he didn't put in the fence. I guess he didn't like fences.

Twenty-five years of bad blood ensued and we were mostly on the receiving end. And then there was Larry and Roger and the others. I couldn't afford to move and I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of driving us out. So I sat tight and toughed it out. I didn't want to retaliate because I knew things would only escalate.

But it was no fun. The neighborhood is much better now. My neighbors are fine.
